NPC AU Story
A variant of Wyra who is NOT the Warrior of Light, just an adventurer-turned-FC leader and potionmaker!
Childhood Through the Calamity
Born in the Black Shroud to moon miqo'te mother (Ara Dakwhil) and sun miqo'te father (W'haro Tia).
Mother was an above-average conjurer and alchemist for the guild in Gridania, but settled in the North Shroud. Father was a so-so adventurer who never fit in well with his tribe and expectations for Tias, and settled down with Ara in her home. They had two children, Wyra and her older brother, Zhet.
Wyra was raised with a tiny bit of conjury education and strong superstition towards the elementals, but most strongly took after her father's skill with archery. Her brother was the better healer, though she did decently with minor potions since she was good at finding the herbs in the wilds.
When the calamity began approaching, her father decided to join the Order of the Twin Adder to provide support and protect their home. He left and was likely lost in combat. Two weeks after losing contact, Wyra's mother, who had stayed to focus on creating potions for the troops, left her children (Wyra, age 15, and Zhet, 16) with the plans to flee the North Shroud to live with their Moon Keeper cousins in Central Shroud, temporarily. Her mother was lost when Dalamud broke open.
After news of her parents' demise reached them, Zhet felt undervalued with his cousins and decided to leave and learn more about his Sun Seeker heritage. Wyra stayed with her moon cousins until she turned 17, but couldn't bring herself to move on from the feeling of hopelessness she was left from being unable to help her parents or any others who had been lost in the calamity. Having the Echo plagued her with a bombardment of people's emotions and loss from the calamity, spurring her to feel like she HAD to do something. She heard of the Warriors of Light and wanted to be as strong as they were, so she took her father's bow and set out to adventure herself.
ARR - The Archer's Guild and the Scar
Wyra came back to Gridania after a few years of adventuring, resolved to join the Archer's Guild and grow stronger than she had been by herself.
Faced with the negativity in the guild towards Moon Keepers, Wyra left, feeling offended on her mother's behalf (since her mother had been a conjurer herself and respected the elementals).
While walking in the woods shortly after, she was ambushed by armed bandits. They got ahold of her father's bow, which had been her only surviving memory of him after their house was destroyed in the calamity. While struggling, she was sliced across the face with the edge of an arrow, damaging her right eye. She was left with little way to fight back, still being small in stature compared to the hyurian men, and ran.
Making it back to town, she got another bow, but found that her damaged eye meant she had very poor depth perception. She also didn't have her father's bow, and was deeply upset.
Heavensward - Magic and a Mate
Deciding to go back to wandering after her incident with the bandits, Wyra traveled to Limsa Lominsa and happened across the Arcanist's Guild. While she had been taught much by her mother, and she knew how to read, she had not been trained in anything other than conjury magic, so the exposure to a new magic that could be offensive was fascinating and she took to it quickly. She found that, while her eye made aiming her arrows difficult, she didn't have to be as careful with aiming arcanist attacks due to the assistance of her Carbuncle.
She is very self-conscious of her eye scar, and begins to wear large-brimmed hats like other magic-users to hide it behind. She develops a reputation for being quiet and thoughtful per her habit of tipping her hat down when she is in thought.
While in Limsa, she heard tell of the modern Warrior of Light for the first time there, and heard that they had been accused (but that the common folk strongly disagreed with the idea) of killing the Sultana of Ul'dah. Wyra hopes that the WOL is in fact a savior for the world, and that they truly aren't guilty, but doesn't put too much stock in it. As time passes, she hopes that she could someday be of assistance to the Warrior of Light, but she doesn't come across them.
Additionally, while in Limsa, Wyra meets another Arcanist named Kheda'ra, a Moon Keeper adventurer who she ended up teaming up with to help. His attitude toward adventuring was less than enthusiastic, but funny and charming. He was not as bothered by the fate of the world as she, despite his echo -- rather, his main focus was just doing enough adventuring to pay off a plot of land to farm. He breaks through Wyra's nerves and begins to make her feel happier interacting with others agian.
Stormblood
During this time frame, Wyra is building her arcane abilities, studying, and picks up alchemy to supplement her income and honor her mother. She becomes strong enough to fight with magic, and after arming herself with potions to further enhance her strength, begins to adventure again. She spends much of her time helping around Coerthas and Dravania, joining the Rosebriar Coven free company, which is a Twin Adder company based out of Ishgard once the gates opened. The Coven had a focus on magical education to use in helping the region.
Kheda'ra also joins the Coven, and begins his first onion farm on the company land. Wyra finds that his botany and gardening is the perfect compliment to her alchemy, so they grow much closer and end up taking many missions and spending much free time together.
In her travels, she travels to see her brother and W-tribe cousins, which were located in Dravania. Her brother had changed his name to fit in with the tribe, and seemed happy to help them how he couldn't his family -- similar to how Wyra had felt. But, he was ready to move on, and chose to join Wyra's free company to further assist Eorzea the way their father had.
When the fight against the Garleans grew closer to her homeland in the Northern Shoud, she helped fight.
Shadowbringers
As time passed, Wyra began traveling further and learning more magic.
Wyra manages to be jumped again by the bandits who had stolen her father's bow, and this time she wins. She learns they had probably sold the bow to rebels in Ala Migo, leading her to travel to Gyr Abania.
She visited Gyr Abania and helped there, as well as helping to run the free company. She provided more services to the Twin Adder and honed her alchemy skills.
Wyra finds her bow being used by rebels, and is able to buy it back and exchange her potionry and charms.
Kheda'ra and Wyra were eternally bonded, and with the gil they earned from Kheda'ra's farm, they were able to buy a house in the Lavender beds and open a shop in the Myst. Kheda'ra spends the majority of his time traveling from garden to garden and running his farm and flower shop, while Wyra continues to adventure on occasion and run the FC.
Wyra's eye largely heals, allowing her once more to use a bow, as long as she has glasses on. By now, she has switched to magic, though, so she only uses archery when hunting to honor her father.
Endwalker
As the war moved to Garlemald, she stayed at the Free Company to produce potions as her mother had to help the front, until the Final Days started to return and blasphemies began to roam. Then, she and many other adventurers steeled and took to hunting blasphemies as they appeared. She had heard enough of the WOL that Wyra had hope things would be solved. She had the care of her friends made from adventuring, her FC, and her spouse to keep her afloat.
In the end, after the final days were averted, she was thrilled and returned to the FC to continue making potions for recovery and to help the adventurers of the FC.
After Sharlayan opens its doors wider, she has plans to travel to Old Sharlayan to learn more of magic and alchemy; Thavnair is also on her list for the latter.
Dawntrail
Similarly, Wyra does not travel to Tural, as she is busy taking care of the FC, studying magic, and studying alchemy.
She dabbles in pictomancy while studying in Old Sharlayan, but it is not her primary focus.
